Treść wiadomości: Govt trying to break trade union movement of thousands’
New trade unions have called for an anti-corruption investigation of the government, following allegations from senior officials, including Foreign Secretary Salman Khurshid, the deputy prime minister, and defence minister and former deputy defence minister, Asaduddin Owaisi.
Mr Khurshid’s office said last week that the government was seeking a probe into an allegations of corruption against him during the country’s recent election campaign.
Meanwhile, senior army officers have called for Mr Owaisi, who served three years in prison, to resign over a corruption scandal involving military-related funds for relatives of his wife and a private school they run.

Both the soldiers’ concerns and the general’s were reportedly based on Mr Owaisi’s claims during a Senate hearing that the General Staff was engaged in corrupt activity with its private sector employees. Mr Owaisi’s office said at the time the allegations were „misleading and ridiculous”.
„The general in question, an admiral, was never able to be an administrator for the army staff,” a military spokesman told AFP.
On Friday, the Ministry of Defence issued a formal statement of allegations that Mr Owaisi used state-owned corporations to pay private school fees for the military’s elite recruits.
„As a matter of fact, the prime minister and vice-chancellor of a private school used the general’s company for the purpose of paying salaries of private school students for the school year 2015, 2015-16,” the ministry said.
The statement said he used those funds for personal expenses, such as food.
Mr Owaisi denies the allegations.
„I reject the allegations made against me in the United States on national TV in the New York Times,” he said in a statement.
„It’s an outrageous and completely fabricated story, published by a newspaper that had no knowledge of what I did in the past as an officer. I’m fully confident in who I am and my integrity, and I firmly believe I did nothing wrong.”
On Thursday, a Senate report into the military’s corruption accusations came close to revealing the extent of corruption that had roiled the armed forces.
„The general who was in charge of running the national-security infrastructure has repeatedly admitted to some of the most serious and troubling allegations in regards to our national security,” the Senate’s investigation panel said.
The Senate probe was led by former US attorney general Eric Holder Jr who accused the service of engaging in „tremendous and pervasive corruption” throughout the armed forces.

The other major problem with the AIMD model is the lack of uniformity in the data. The AIMD model has been subjected to serious criticism by academics and others. As usual, the model has been shown to be flawed, which leads to a range of questions.
In recent years, some scholars have attempted to find solutions to the problems in the AIMD model based on the concept of competitive risk. A recent paper from the Joint Institute for Strategic and International Studies, for example, argued that China should „reconsider” its current investment model to reflect that economic growth is a key driver of future growth rates. It has been noted that this approach could affect many aspects of China’s external sector and the relationship of China to the rest of Asia (which has not been a big issue in the past). A „Chinese New Silk Road” (Chinese version: China New Land or „New Silk Road”); also from the authors, „A New Silk Route? Chinese economic transformation and the politics of risk”; has shown that there are two major ways to solve the China’s external competitiveness dilemma: A) a strategy for developing Asian markets through more flexible external investment and/or B) a strategy for „co-marketing” foreign investors to the domestic sector.
It should be noted that some critics have argued that a policy of creating a greater amount of domestic industry is a poor way to create domestic competition and hence it would not produce greater external competition; they claim that it will have little impact on global competition. This claim is supported by the observation that Asian economies have been heavily subsidized by their partners during the past 30 years. In other words, China has not developed competitive institutions that could produce more and better producers.
There are also many questions about the model itself. What makes up the AIMD model? What does the new economic environment look like, such that any investment in a region or country’s infrastructure and/or business will lead to higher economic growth? Why has the AIMD model never been tested extensively? Does the model accurately reflect China’s external economic environment, or do it miss some key issues? Does a model that only covers China accurately reflect global competition globally? Will it be able to predict how the China’s external competition will be affected by such a change in the Chinese economy? And, why are there no models for developing foreign investments and business opportunities in China from developing countries in South Asia or Latin America, and even the Middle East and North Africa?
As for external competition, where do the AIMD models fit? As an example, we need look at countries like South Korea, where foreign investment has reached over $200 billion in recent years, but foreign direct investment has grown by only around 5 to 10 percen
